Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis

Operation Flashpoint was released in June 2001, at the time it was a revolutionary game, where you, the soldier, could do just about anything in a huge island environment. From Tank Gunner to Helicopter Pilot, every role was available to the player, all they had to do was enter a certain vehicle and assume the role.
In the singleplayer game General Ivan Vasilii Guba, an old-school Communist general who firmly believes in the harshest of Cold War policies,has set himself up as some kind of feudal warlord from his stronghold on Kolgujev ( an island in the region of the other two game-islands Malden and Everon) and refuses to listen to any orders from Moscow. The island has become a staging post for his well-equipped modern army to attempt to control the surrounding area. It is up to a NATO force to liberate Malden and Everon and finally capture General Guba.
During the singleplayer campaign the player assumes the role of different soldiers, ranging from a simple infantry to a fully trained pilot.
After the success of Cold War Crisis, an expansion pack was released, Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, where the player could assume the role of a resistance fighter.
